Piaggio Aero Industries is an Italian aircraft manufacturer that currently employs over 1,500 people in its factories, where aircraft and their own engines are built.

Well known for the manufacture of its legendary Vespa scooters—which were only a secondary activity for the company—Piaggio developed a unique-looking aircraft in the late 1990s, the Piaggio 180 Avanti, an avant-garde twin-turboprop business jet, unique in its design and performance.

Purchased by the Italian Navy and 36 of them by the American company Avantair, this cutting-edge aircraft made the Italian manufacturer famous. In 2014, Piaggio Aero, with a view to continuous evolution, had the third evolution of its Piaggio Avanti certified by the EASA - European Aviation Safety Agency - a version of a faster, more comfortable and more autonomous aircraft.
