It was after the Second World War that Socata - the company for the construction of passenger and business aircraft - began its activities with the "Rallye", an aircraft still used today in the majority of French flying clubs as a glider tow plane.

A major player in the A manufacturer of single-engine piston aircraft—planes currently used for pilot training at ENAC (French National School of Civil Aviation)—Socata has specialized since the 1990s in the construction of ultra-fast business turboprops with its TBM family.

Acquired in 2009 by the equipment manufacturer Daher, the Daher-Socata group is located in southwest France and the United States.
